Enhance the color accuracy of your workflow.
Spectrophotometers, such as the X-rite i1 or ColorMunki, enhance the accuracy of your printer and/or display. The X-rite products allows you to measure and calibrate your image devices to known color values. The measurements and calibrations are achieved by a sensor in the i1 or ColorMunki that reads the printed and/or monitor displayed patches. From there, the resulting data is coupled with the profiling software to map the color information throughout the profiling process. This process creates an increased accuracy in color reproduction. There are several types of models of the sensors offering different features. The Xrite products offer differing levels of software as well as the ability to profile and calibrate printed materials only, monitor calibration only, or both printed materials and monitor calibration together. Choosing the correct model for your needs will come down to your application, or want you want to calibrate.
Professionals wishing to utilize the calibration functions of the i1 within their existing RIP software or monitor calibration software, such as ColorBurst, simply need the i1 sensor. The i1 works with most major RIP software manufacturers and additional software is not typically required with the purchase of the sensor. Although additional software is not usually necessary, please check with your RIP vendor for model compatibility before selecting a sensor model.
